The Dry Cleaner from Des Moines

The Dry Cleaner From Des Moines has a fairly angular melody and covers a pretty wide range. It is based on Bb blues so the solo changes are pretty standard. It also features the bass trombone taking the role of the counter melody.

This is sure to be a crowd pleaser since it is certainly not your typical trombone choir fare!

The song is about a dry cleaner with a pocket full of coins who won every time he dropped a coin into a slot and couldn’t lose. Only Joni Mitchell could have thought of ending the song’s lyrics with, But the cleaner from Des Moines could put a coin in the door of a john and get twenty for one. It’s just luck!

Listen to Joni Mitchell’s original version of this great Mingus tune.

This is just a fake book example for the type of website I can build for you. Just trying to use a little humor here!
