Practicing Without Music

You’re a musician. Does it make sense to practice, at least some of the time, completely without music? To guide your practice session exclusively by ear?

In this lesson I talk about the benefits of practicing without written music in front of you on a music stand, and I offer some suggestions for a few of the things you can work on. Try it at least once. put the music away and spend your 30 or more minutes creating things to practice outside of the written page.
