Afternoon Daydreaming

This one of the more challenging groovz. The reason is that you have two chords one half step apart. One is a major seventh and the other is a dominant seventh. Between them you have only two common tones. But these chords sound cool together in this context.

The “Idea Starter” below looks complicated but keep in mind that the tempo of this is moderate, so 16th notes are not as fast as they look. And because this is a samba, we want to keep the rhythms interesting. 

This is a great exercise for practicing these two scales up and down next to each other, playing them as written in the “Associated Scales.”
