This is a very simple two-chord progression from C Major to D Minor – all white keys).

This easy-going rhythm track should invite you to play what you hear and not try to fit as many notes into your improvisation as possible! Play the idea starter as a way to get into that space.

Notice that the lines in the idea starter have utilized intervals wider that the simple minor and major seconds. Notice also that the four bars have a nice melodic contour as it rises to the highest note in bar three. These are the little things that give your playing a more musical feel.
