Conrad Herwig, part 2 of 2

"When you play trombone in a big band or salsa band, people expect you to hit it with a hammer. That's your role."

As Conrad did in part 1 of our conversation, he spoke about both the practical and the spiritual side of music.

An example of his spiritual side was when I asked him what was it about A Love Supreme that made it so popular. After all, Conrad has studied Trane in-depth and made an album dedicated to “The Latin Side of John Coltrane.”

In part, his answer was, “Because, on a bunch of different levels, it touches the source.”
