Joe Magnarelli

"When I learned to stop searching for the next mouthpiece or horn to improve my playing, and instead took responsibility as the player, my life changed."

Joe is a guy who was fun to sit with and chat. You’ll hear a very humble guy throughout this interview, but make no mistake, he is a talented and in-demand New York trumpet player.

We spoke about his intense worth ethic that includes learning Bud Powell solos on trumpet, his studio and road experiences, and his writing process on trumpet and piano. Joe is also a Juilliard instructor and offers some important advice for students choosing a college and getting the most from that choice.
