Conrad Herwig, part 1 of 2

"I firmly believe that when playing jazz, we are mapping the soul using sound."

Conrad finds a great balance between the practical and the spiritual. Equally at home talking about the nuts and bolts of the music, and its spiritual side, this was a fascinating conversation with not only a great trombone player, but of a real musical thinker.

He certainly has played with a number of the greats, and reflects on his time with Jack DeJohnette, Joe Henderson, the Brecker Brothers, Richie Beirach, and Dave Liebman.

In the end, he shares his “Secret” to success.
